Pharmaceutical Strategies Group announces improvementsPharmaceutical Strategies Group, a pharmacy benefits consulting and solutions firm, recently announced improvements to its Specialty Pharmacy Management Services.

The improvements include the RxDiagnostic for Specialty service, which gives large employers, health systems, managed care organizations and Taft-Hartley Funds/Unions the ability to develop and implement new strategies to see cost savings related to specialty drug spending.

"We are excited to offer a solution that addresses the marketplace need for tools to benchmark and assess the effectiveness of specialty pharmacy programs across the continuum of care," said Dave Borden, CEO of PSG. "These new services were developed to address a significant need of our clients and we are eager to provide them with greater insights, strategies, and solutions."

The new RxDiagnostic for Specialty tool gives customers the potential to save 15 percent or more on specialty drugs covered under medical benefits. Based on a detailed analysis, the program provides guidance to pharmacies regarding a wide range of issues, such as vendor relations, contract language and the efficacy of management programs.

The consulting company announced the program on the same day that Roche Holding AG announced a shortage of the bone-strengthening drug Boniva, according to Reuters. The pharmaceutical company inaccurately gauged customer demand.
