Recently Source One spoke with two members of ISM's Conference Leaderships Committee, Naseem Malik, Managing Partner at MRA Global Sourcing and Rose Kelly-Falls, MSM, CPSM, Chief Sourcing Risk Officer at Zimmer Biomet. These industry leaders assisted in organizing the Learning Track session at ISM2017, focusing on the Professional segment that offers an Inside and Outside track discussing how supply management professionals can advance their careers inside and outside of their companies. The Learning Track features Business, Professional, and Economic segments, each with two separate tracks and a variety of sessions, Malik and Kelly-Falls provide insight on the CLC's main ideas were for the overall content of this year's ISM conference, and what attendees can anticipate from the many sessions available over the four day event.
The Learning Track was designed to offer perspectives that resonated with attendees in a range of positions within the industry, along with general best practices that professionals at every stage of their career can benefit from. Malik explains how the Economic segment offers opposing views in their Bust and Boom sessions, and the sessions inside that focus on these niche topics for attendees to learn from. Kelly-Falls evaluates the value behind the Bottom Line and Top Line sessions during the Business Segment, and then reviews the process she and Malik took in organizing the Outside Track of the Professional segment as co-chairs. Together they explain how Outside Track sessions including Get a (Work) Life: Time Spent on the Job vs. in the Job and Emerging Professionals: Should I Stay or Should I Go? discuss day-to-day strategies, career development, and reasons for staying with one company for an entire career compared to changing companies.
