The United States Air Force has chosen to renew a contract with contracting firm Lockheed Martin, according to a recently released report. The deal between the Air Force and the company will extend a supply chain services contract for three logistics centers in the U.S.The deal is worth a reported $176 million and underscores the close relationship between the U.S. government and the Bethesda, Maryland-based company. Lockheed Martin's vice president of aeronautics global sustainment, Lisa Mahlmann, affirmed the deal stands as a testament to the company's reliability.
"We are pleased the Air Force has opted to exercise this second contract option, highlighting the confidence and trust that our customers place in our abilities to support their weapons systems," Mahlmann said in a statement. "We look forward to continuing this partnership by maintaining critical spare parts and consumables to keep the warfighter mission-ready."
The original supply chain deal was struck between Lockheed Martin and the Air Force in 2006 and pertains to three logistics facilities in Utah, Oklahoma and Georgia. Per terms of the deal, Lockheed Martin will continue to provide engineering, maintenance and logistics management.
