Pallet Sourcing 101: A Quick Win for Cost Reduction

Ballard examines pallets, a spend are he consider a surprising (and surprisingly effective) quick-win opportunity for Procurement groups in a number of industries. Additionally, he explores the different drawbacks and benefits of plastic and wooden pallet. Plastic pallets, he suggests, represent a financial benefit if the rate of pallet return to your facility is particularly high. Low return rates, however, are better served by wood pallets. These are just a few factors that Procurement should take into account. For example, Ballard suggests that plastic pallets are preferable if they'll be exposed to inclement weather, and wooden pallets are better suited to heavy loads.
