Commercial Vehicle Group chooses Mexico as site of newest manufacturing facility In a testament to the country's burgeoning manufacturing sector, Mexico will soon have another manufacturing facility: Commercial Vehicle Group recently began construction on a brand new production facility in Saltillo, Mexico.

The company, a leading supplier of fully integrated solutions for the global car market, expects the 159,550-square-foot facility to be completed by August 2011; construction is moving so quickly the company expects some parts of the production center to be up and running by the end of March. The facility is divided into three discrete parts, with each section focused on a different manufacturing task.

Under an agreement the company inked with Daimler Trucks North America, the facility will provide parts for DTNA's manufacturing centers in Mexico and the U.S., eliminating the transportation costs often associated with Asian suppliers. "Saltillo is an ideal place for CVG to build a new facility as a part of our ongoing relationship with Daimler," said Commercial Vehicle Group president Mervin Dunn.

"Saltillo also has a large and growing automotive supply base that we feel offers CVG new development opportunities. In addition, the area's seven universities and three technical schools will make it easy for us to find a skilled and qualified workforce," affirmed Dunn.
