What a treat!

Our team of animal lovers in Source One's Chicago office made their way to Safe Humane Chicago on Monday night to socialize the dogs at the Chicago Animal Care and Control shelter. The team was there to support the organization's mission of inspiring positive relationships between people and animals. The team of spend management consultants had the great responsibility of showering the well-deserving pups with treats and pets with the goal of reinforcing positive associations between the dogs and humans.

The volunteering night kicked off with an orientation provided by Safe Humane's dedicated and veteran volunteers. They covered safety best practices, as well as gave an overview of the various programs at Safe Humane, including Court Case Dogs (victims of neglect or abuse associated with criminal court cases against their abusers), manner classes, playgroup enrichment, and more. The team was then equipped with literally buckets of treats to be handed out to the hundreds of dogs being cared for at the shelter.

Throughout the night, Source One's team met dogs of different sizes, breeds, and walks of life. Some had been taken in as strays, others looking for new homes after being surrendered. No matter their background, all of the dogs were thrilled to receive treats. As members of Source One's team met dogs at each of their cages, they were greeted with vigorous tail wagging and eager eyes on the deliciously-scented home-made biscuits. Many were even happy to earn their treats by sitting on command.

The Source One family was super excited to work with the dogs and most importantly, give them a positive experience with humans. The volunteer night at Safe Humane offered a fantastic opportunity to not only give back to the Chicago community but also to bond as a team of animal lovers.
